Police make prompt arrest following burglary, Mount Eden

A man has been taken into custody following a report of a burglary in Mount Eden on Monday morning.

Around 12.40am, Police responded to reports of the break in at a commercial address on Dominion Road.

Auckland City West Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Wayne Kitcher, says Police units were quickly on the scene.

¡°It was reported the person involved had taken a number of items from the premises before leaving the area on foot.

¡°With the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, Delta, the man was located a short time later at an address on New North Road.

¡°The 56-year-old was taken into custody without incident.¡±

Further action, including charges, are currently being considered.

Inspector Kitcher says enquiries remain ongoing into the burglary.

¡°I would like to acknowledge the informant who reported a disturbance inside the store, allowing us to quickly get on scene.

¡°It takes everyone working together to keep our communities safe, and I encourage everyone who sees something suspicious taking place to report it to us as soon as possible.¡±
