Hawke¡¯s Bay Police are investigating a serious assault which occurred at a local holiday park shortly before 8am this morning.
Police were called to the incident at the Hastings TOP 10 Holiday Park and arrived to find a man with serious injuries.
Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard says it¡¯s believed a weapon was used in the attack.
¡°A number of people were present at the time of the assault and we are speaking with them as part of our enquiries.¡±
The 23-year-old victim is currently undergoing surgery at Hawke¡¯s Bay Hospital.
