Police are continuing to investigate the death of Fai Deane in Taupo over the weekend. ?
Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Cranshaw of Taupo Area CIB, says a post mortem has now been completed, but a number of enquiries still need to be made before Police is in a position to comment in more detail.
¡°This is a complex inquiry and there are still a number of issues to work through as we piece together the exact circumstances of Fai¡¯s tragic death.
¡°Police would like to thank those members of the public who assisted us with our inquiries in Taupo on Saturday,¡± Mr Cranshaw says.
It is understood that the driver of the vehicle which crashed into a power pole in the area prior to Ms Deane¡¯s death had collided with or scraped other obstacles in the lead up to the crash. These events will form part of the ongoing Police investigation.
¡°Police is in the meantime continuing to provide appropriate support to Fai¡¯s whanau and keep them informed regarding progress on our investigation.¡±
