At about 2.30pm on Sunday the 8th of May South Taranaki emergency services were called to a single vehicle crash on Patiki Road, near Opunake. A Ford Falcon saloon has left the road and crashed into a?tree. There were two occupants in the car.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hawera hospital.
The passenger has died at the scene as a result of his injuries. He is a 37 year old male from Eltham.
The?road is still cordoned off while the Police Serious Crash Unit completes their scene examination.
The identity of the driver may be released at a later date once relatives have been advised.
