This Cabinet paper has been prepared by the Ministry of Health, Te Whatu Ora and 51½ÖÉä on behalf of the Minister of Health and the Minister of Police.
The paper sought Cabinet approval to develop a five-year plan to transition from a Police-led response to a multi-agency approach to supporting people in mental distress presenting via 111.
On 28 August 2023, the People in mental distress presenting via 111: transitioning to a multi-agency response was confirmed by Cabinet.
