State Highway 3 closed, south of Inglewood

Mountain Road / State Highway 3 south of Inglewood is expected to be closed for several hours following a crash.

It happened about 3:50am and involved three heavy vehicles.

While there are no serious injuries as a result, heavy tows will need to be brought in.

There is a diversion off the highway at Tarata Road from Inglewood, onto Kaimata Road South, Tariki Road South, Salisbury Road, to Beaconsfield Road, and back onto the highway.

Motorists are asked to have patience and delay travel if possible.

State Highway 10 blocked

State Highway 10 is closed between Taipa and Mangonui due to a serious two-vehicle crash.

Emergency services were notified around 7pm.

Two people have been seriously injured and are being taken to hospital.

There are no diversions and motorists are asked to avoid travel if possible.

Section of SH 2 north of Napier closed between 11pm and 3am

A section of State Highway 2 north of Napier will be closed for four hours between 11pm today and 3am tomorrow.

The road closure between Whirinaki and Tutira is to allow for the recovery of a truck and trailer unit which crashed near Tangoio this morning.

The single vehicle crash was reported to Police at 7.25am today. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.

There are no diversions in place, so travel between Napier and Wairoa between 11pm and 3am will not be possible.

Serious crash, SH3, Awakino

Emergency services are responding to a serious crash that has blocked State Highway 3 at Awakino, in the Waitomo district.

The crash was reported about 9.50am, between Papakauri and Awakau roads, and is understood to involve a car and truck.

At least one person has been injured.

Traffic management is being arranged, and motorists should expect delays of several hours while the scene is cleared. Police advise motorists to take alternative routes.

Horotiu Road closed, serious crash

Horotiu Road south of Te Kowhai is blocked due to a serious crash.

Police were called to the crash, in which a single vehicle hit a power pole, about 4:40pm.

Traffic is being diverted at Woolrich Road.

Initial indications are that there are critical injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and contractors are on site for the power pole.

Emergency services are in attendance at a two-vehicle crash on Western Bay Road – SH 32 – reported shortly before midday, which has blocked the road at Waihaha on the western side of Lake Taupo.

Indications are there are serious injuries involved, and a helicopter has been dispatched to the scene.

A diversion is expected at Whangamata Road, but motorists are asked to expect delays.
